SUMMER 2006
The campers left Wednesday morning
for the long 5 1/2 hour drive to Baxter State Park. They arrived
in time to
set up their tents and have a delicious meal and get to bed early as
the next day started with a 5:00 am wake up. They ate breakfast
before driving to the start of the trail. They started the climb
around 7am and made it to the top by 11. After spending about an
hour at the top, they started their descent which took a little longer
than the climb up. They were back at the campsite by 5, tired but
excited about the day's accomplishments. Everyone collapsed early
after enjoying a delicous dinner of chicken fajitas. The next
morning, after breakfast, they were on the road again back to camp.
It was a great day to climb, clear and not too hot. They took lots of
great pictures and I've put most of them on although many are just
views -- it gives the rest of us a good idea of just what they saw and
climbed along the way.
