Week Four

We were sorry to see our first half campers leave this week but delighted to have a new group arrive on Monday.  After a brief orientation period, the new campers quickly got into the camp routine and are enjoying all of the activities.  Highlights this week include the Cardinals camping trip to Lake Umbagog, the Falcons camping trip to Crawford Notch Monday through Wednesday followed by the Loons trip to the same area Wednesday through Friday;  the barbers came to Timanous on Wednesday night and 22 boys lined up for haircuts, Friday afternoon the Friday trips included a climb up Pleasant Mountain, a shorter climb up Rattlesnake Mountain, and a canoe paddle down Panther Pond; Friday night, the lower 5 bunks (Mallards, Eagles, Hawks, Crogles, and Herons) went to Little Wohelo for dinner, games and dancing;  on Saturday the 3rd Capture the Flag game was played ending in a tie followed Saturday night by the annual game of "Granddaddy Gorilla". "Granddaddy Gorilla" is a huge hide and seek game where the counselors hide and the campers look for them. Sometime in the next two weeks, we will play "Junior Granddaddy Gorilla" and the campers will hide - they are already looking for good hiding spots.  On Sunday, the camp photographer was busy taking pictures which will appear in the yearbook (every camper will receive a yearbook in December).  In addition there were numerous competitions with other camps including the Six-A-Side Soccer Tournament which Timanous won!   The weather was cooler than normal this week but we still had lots of sunshine.
