This was the last full week of camp and it has been busy. Many
campers worked fevorishly to complete awards and projects. Special
events this week included the Wohelo/Timanous dance at Timanous on Wednesday;
Beach Day on Thursday (we took the whole camp to the ocean in Scarboro,
Maine); hikes up Pleasant and Bald Mountain; "Junior Granddaddy
Gorilla" (this time the campers hid and the counselors had to find them
- about 20 campers went undiscovered); a sailing regatta at Winona; "Capture
the Flag" on Friday; and "Horse Races" on Saturday night. Horse Races
are a much anticipated event - the counselors are the "horses" and dress
in costumes. The campers can place "bets" for the winning horse - ask your
campers to explain the rules and the costumes.
The weather this week has been mixed but the sun came out on Beach Day
and it stayed through the weekend.
It is hard to believe camp will be over in just a few days!
