We completed our first full week.
The weather was probably better than you may have guessed from the
forecasts. We did not have any day where it rained all day.
We did however have lots of showers, just enough to keep the paths wet
and the cabins damp. Not enough to keep us from doing any of the
activities with the exception of using the clay tennis courts. We hope
that this next week will be a little drier!
With the orientation period complete, sign-ups began Monday morning.
Each day, after breakfast and lunch, an announcement is made as to
which activities will be open. This week, there was a lot of action at
riflery, archery, water skiing, tennis, soccer, baseball, kickball,
kayaking, canoeing and boating, woodshop, handicrafts, basketball, and
lacrosse.
On Monday, during the lunch announcements, the Twilight League softball
teams were announced with some crazy counselor skits. Every boy
in camp is on a team and the games began that evening. Each team
has the full range of ages and ability -- it is a fun evening activity
where everyone plays. Ask your son what team he is on!
The Crows left for the Forks, Maine on Tuesday where they spent 3 days
and 2 nights on the shores of the Kennebec River. On Wednesday, June
28, they went whitewater rafting down the Kennebec with Three Rivers
Rafting Company. The rafting companies pictures can be seen
here.
Intercamp competitions started this week with a 15 & under and a 13
& under soccer game, 10 & under kickball, 12 & under
baseball, and 13 & under tennis.
On Friday, representatives from Border's Book Store conducted a book
fair. There was a great selection of books and most boys added to
their summer reading.
After the book fair, we played the first game of Capture the
Flag. The new campers were assigned to either the "green" or
"gray" team and the whole camp played. This is always one of the
campers' favorite activities.
The sun is shinning today and we are starting another great week!
We'll have more pictures next week.
